Obituary

Mary Crowe Ferguson, 82, of New Bedford died Tuesday March 4, 2008 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Frederick J. Ferguson.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of the late Michael J. and Bridget (Thorne) Crowe, she was raised in New Bedford and lived in New Jersey for 25 years, before returning to New Bedford in 1982.

She was a communicant of St. Julie Billiart Church.

Mrs. Ferguson was formerly employed by Teledyne Rodney Metals and St. Luke's Hospital. She had also been a real estate agent in the New Bedford area.

She was a graduate of Holy Family High School.

Survivors include three children, Michael Ferguson of St. Simons Island, GA, Kathleen Devaney of Charlestown, and Margaret Holland of West Palm Beach, FL; a brother, Michael Crowe of Mattapoisett; four sisters, Catherine Sullivan and Trudy Coucci, both of New Bedford, Tess Dwyer of Naples, FL, and Clara Lawton of Washington Township, NJ; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was the grandmother of the late Meaghan Devaney and the sister of the late Peggy McDowell.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 11 AM at St. Julie Billiart Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 4-8 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
