Obituary


WORCESTER-Carmen C. (Lepore) Johnson, 91, of Worcester, died Monday, March 3rd in UMass-Memorial Hospital. Her husband, Howard B. Johnson, Sr. died in 1977. She leaves a son, Howard B. Johnson, Jr. and his partner Miriam Stevens of Worcester; a daughter, Elaine R. Hall and her husband Arthur of Princeton; a brother, Irving A. Lepore of Worcester; 3 granddaughters, Rosemary Palmi and her husband Shawn of Fitchburg, Elizabeth Meyers and her husband John of Methuen, and Meredith Hall and her significant other, Jason Leclair of Fitchburg; 3 great grandchildren, William and Hannah Palmi of Fitchburg and Riley Meyers of Methuen.

She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Anthony A. and Rosemary (Mazza) Lepore and graduated from Classical High School, Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing and received her nursing degree from Quinsigamond Community College. Mrs. Johnson was a Registered Nurse at Worcester City Hospital and later at St. Vincent Hospital, retiring in 1981. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and the Massachusetts Nurses Association. Mrs. Johnson was an avid pastel artist and supporter of the arts and music. She enjoyed reading and gardening and was a wonderful mother, grandmother and caregiver.

The funeral is Thursday, March 6th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 9:30 A.M. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. A gathering of friends and family will be Wednesday, March 5th from 6:30 until 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701, or the Worcester Art Museum, 55 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
