Obituary

Odelle Gibbs Abell, 82, of Tifton died Monday, March 3, 2008, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center in Americus. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 7, 2008, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Dan Robinson and Rev. George Dugger will officiate with burial to follow in Riverside Memorial Park in Jacksonville, Florida on Friday, March 7, 2008, at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 6, 2008, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Ms. Abell was born on May 12, 1925 in Deland, Florida and was the daughter of Elbert Reason Gibbs and Mary Lou Owen Gibbs, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. James Ray Abell; two brothers, Willie C. Gibbs and Aubrey Gibbs; and three sisters, Norma Pidgeon, Frances Munro and Betty Potts. She was a homemaker and a member of the Congregational Holiness Church in Jacksonville, Florida.

Ms. Abell is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Ray and Melodye Abell of Boynton Beach, Florida, and Jim and Lydia Abell of Byron; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Carolyn Abell of Tifton, Mary and Dan Nebel of Cocoa, Florida, and Sue and Jim George of Newnan; one brother, Eugene Gibbs of Brookfield; four sisters, Hilda Davis of Brookfield, Mary Belle Harrell of Brookfield, Reba Ontano of Cassel, California, and Ann Roberts of Albany; eight grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
