Obituary

Mr. Joseph A. Azzalina, age 89, of Stoneham formerly of Medford and Boston´s West End, died February 29th, at the Whidden Memorial Hospital in Everett following a Short illness. He was the beloved husband of Constance (Mondello) Azzalina. Born in Boston he was the son of the late Archangelo and Carmella (Torch) Azzalina.

Mr. Azzalina was a retired Printer. Mostly devoted to his family he enjoyed and cherished spending time with them. Mr. Azzalina was also proud of his West End heritage and was active over the years publishing stories and articles in the West Ender Newspaper. Mr. Azzalina was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed following the Boston Red Sox.

Mr. Azzalina is survived by his son, Angelo and his wife Darlene of Plaistow, NH and his daughter, Kathleen Starr and Her husband Michael of Revere. He is also survived by four grandchildren. He was the brother of Connie Cappuccio of Roslindale, Salvatore Azzalina of Peabody, the late Lucy Maggio, Anthony and Louis Azzalina.

His funeral will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Wednesday, March 5th, at 11:30 am followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner St., Medford, at 12 pm. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family at the funeral home Wednesday morning from 10:00 am - 11:30 am. Services will conclude with burial at Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham. As an expression of sympathy memorial contributions may be made in Joseph’s memory to the Don Orione Home, Activities Dept. 111 Orient Ave. East Boston, MA 02128.
