Obituary

SHREWSBURY- Paul J. O’Connor, 83, of Shrewsbury, formerly of Hitchcock Road, Worcester, died Sunday, March 2nd in Knollwood Nursing Center. He leaves his wife of 52 years, Eleanor M. (Healy) O’Connor; a son, James P. O’Connor of Shrewsbury; two daughters, Joan M. Deyo of Worcester and Patricia A. Postale and her husband Brian J. Postale of Shrewsbury; two granddaughters, Kerry A. and Briana M. Postale. He also leaves his sister, Shirley F. Allison and her husband Donald of Stuart, FL and three nephews, Paul and Donald Allison and Arthur Morin. He was predeceased by his twin sister Pauline M. Morin in 2005 and a niece Nancy M. Allison in 1997.

He was born in Northbridge, son of James T. and Lillian (Cahill) O’Connor and attended Northbridge Schools. Mr. O’Connor was an Army veteran of World War II and served in the European Theater for nineteen months. Mr. O’Connor worked at Whitin Machine Company in Northbridge for twenty years and later at Reed and Prince for 19 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of St. Peter’s Church in Worcester and the Main South American Legion Post 341.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, March 6 from Callahan & Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Peter’s Church, 931 Main St., Worcester. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. Visiting hours are Wednesday, March 5 from 5:00-8:00 PM in the funeral home.
