Evangeline S. Kotekas, 94, of Manchester, died February 28, 2008 at Hackett Hill Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness.
She was born in Manchester December 22, 1913 the daughter of Victoria and Stavros Pavlidis.
A bright and energetic woman she met and married Charles Kotekas with whom she built a life full of work and attention to family. She was later employed at J.F. McElwian shoe factory in the mills of Manchester. She and her husband soon went into their own business at the Rosebud Super Market. Once the business took hold she semi-retired to care for her home and son.
Eva soon discovered an ability as an avid gardener and at her home on Maple and Sagamore St. grew flowers and roses that attracted people and their cameras She was a creative seamstress and needle worker. Eva was a lifetime member of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
She was predeceased by her husband Charles Kotekas, in 2004.
Family members include her son, Lewis C. Kotekas, and his companion Linda Black, of Manchester; a brother, Vissaltos Pavlidis, of Manchester; several nieces, and nephews.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 to 6 o’clock, with a Trisagion service at 5 0’clock at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St. corner of North, Manchester.
A Trisagion service will take place at the funeral home at 5:00 o’clock.
The funeral was held Monday March 3, 2008 at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 605 Hanover St., Manchester.
Burial took place at Pine Grove Cemetery, Calef Rd. Manchester.
