Laconia-Violet Lora (Sanchagrin) LaPointe, 89, of 30 County Drive, formerly of 30 Gale Avenue, and 25 Union Avenue, died peacefully Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at Belknap County Nursing Home.
A life long resident of Laconia where she was raised and schooled, Violet was born on March 9, 1918 the daughter of the late Joseph and Bernadette (Decelles) Sanchagrin
Beside her parents, Violet is predeceased by her husband, Hercules P. LaPointe in 1975.
Violet worked in retail for J.J. Newbury’s approximately 20 years, however, after the death of her husband, at the age of 60, she successfully completed her training as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Her career started at Belknap County Nursing Home and she worked there for 12 years and before retiring, she also worked 6 years at the Taylor Home.
A lifelong communicant of Sacred Heart Church, Violet was also a member of the Ladies of Sacred Heart holding many officers position as well as a member of the honor guard. She was a member of Les Dames Canados.
Violet is survived by her three children, Claire Damone and her husband Michael of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Carol A. Wilson and her husband Leonard of Hollywood, Florida, and Armand J. LaPointe and his wife Ellen of Durham, Connecticut; her sister, Sr. Grace Sanchagrin of Petersham, Massachusetts; her sister-in-law, Simone LaPointe of Laconia; nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews also survive Violet.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, March 8, 2008 at Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Avenue, Laconia at 12:00 p.m. Rev. Adrien R. Longchamps pastor of the church celebrated the mass. Entombment followed in Sacred Heart Cemetery Chapel, Garfield Street to await burial in the family lot in the spring. A period of visitation preceded the funeral mass at the Simoneau-Paquette Memorial Home, 139 Church Street, Laconia from 10:00-11:30 a.m. with a Rosary Service at 11:00 a.m.
