LOWELL, MA—Emma E. (Nash) O’Brien, 87 years old, a longtime resident of the Belvidere section of Lowell, died Saturday afternoon at Saints Medical Center, after a long illness. She was wife of the late Frederick M. O’Brien, who died in December of 1985.
She was born in Lawrence, on December 3, 1920, a daughter of the late John and Emma E. (Bassnett) Nash. She was a graduate of the Moody Junior High School and Lowell High School, where she was a Girl Officer.
Mrs. O’Brien and her husband were the former owners of Major’s Café, in Lowell. She served as the bookkeeper for the business.
Surviving her are her four children: Sally and her husband Brian Hunt, of Litchfield, NH; Frederick M. O’Brien, Jr.; Mary Ellen and her husband Kenneth Quigley; and Elizabeth and her husband Glenn Cannon, all of Lowell; six grandchildren: Megan Hunt and her companion David Yannone; Ryan Hunt; Sarah Quigley; Kenneth Quigley and his companion Teresita Dominguez; Daniel Quigley; and Benjamin Cannon; two great grandchildren: Sebastian Yannone, and Jonathan Quigley; a brother-in-law: Thomas O’Brien, of Haverhill; also many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late John R. Nash.
Friends may call from 4 until 8 PM on Monday, February 25th at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, (Rte. 38), Lowell. Her funeral service to be held Tuesday morning at 10 AM at the funeral home. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury.
