John J. Pento, 91, of Woburn formerly of Lynn, passed away at the Pilgrim Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Peabody following a brief illness, He was the husband of the late Rosena (Saccocea).
Born and raised in Clifford, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Carmella (Cornelio) and John Pento. He was a toll collector for the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority,
John was actively involved in a variety of community activities. He was the past president of the Woburn Sr. Citizen club and he enjoyed being a precinct worker for the municipal elections. He also enjoyed golf and gardening.
His family was most important in his life, and his grandchildren especially were very dear to him.
Surviving are his two sons, Louis M. Pento and his wife Joanne, and John A. Pento both of Lynn, two daughters Rose Boveri and her husband Louis of Peabody, and Linda M. Dyer and her husband Stephen of California. Also seven loving grandchildren and nine loving great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Frank and Daniel Pento.
His funeral will be hedf from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St. Woburn on Monday, February 25, at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 100 Washington St. Woburn at 10. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
