Henry A. Thibeault, age 89, of West Mystic, formerly of Pawcatuck, passed away Wednesday at Mary Elizabeth Nursing Center.
Mr. Thibeault was born in New London on September 14, 1918 the son of Mr. & Mrs. Alfred Thibeault. He was the husband of the late Elvira (Bradshaw) Thibeault, who died March 8, 2007.
He was employed for many years at General Dynamics, beginning his career as a welder, and then retiring as a supervisor in 1973.
He was a co-founder and longtime active member of the Hugo Simonelli Post VFW in Mystic and was honred to serve as the post’s first Commander. He was also a member of the Groton Sportsman’s Club and was an avid NY Yankees Fan.
He is survived by his children, Carolyn Tetlow and her husband Tom of W. Mystic, and Robert H. and Carla Thibeault of Albany, GA; his grandchildren, Tom Tetlow III and his wife Kim of VA, Christopher Tetlow and his wife Elizabeth of Griswold, Elizabeth Marion Tetlow of Mystic, LaNia Dowdy and husband Mike of Albany, GA, Robert Lawrence Thibeault of S.C.; 6 great-grandchildren, Cody, Jordan Nicole, Kylie Grace, Blaine, Cortney, and Jordan Scott; a sister, Alice Faucher of Taftville; sister-in-law, Lillian Gatchek brother-in-law, Edward Bradshaw, sister-in-law, Catherine Bradshaw, all of Mystic; a step-brother, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a step-brother.
His family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Wednesday from 5-7pm. A Funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 10am. Burial with military honors will be at Elm Grove Cemetery.
