Obituary

Mary E. (Maguire) Flynn, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, died on Monday February 18, 2008 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following a lengthy illness. She was 77 years old.

Mary was born in Charlestown on July 17, 1930. She attended St. Catherine's Parochial School and graduated from Charlestown High School. She worked as a bookeeper for Schraffts Candy Company in Charlestown for several years before working for the Boston School Department as para professional dealing with the special needs students of the Bunker Hill School and Charlestown High School in Charlestown and also St. John's School in the North End. She retired from the Boston School System in 1998 after over 20 years of service.

Mary is the beloved wife of the late Martin J. Flynn. She is the devoted mother of Marybeth Giovanucci and her husband Glen, Janet Sidlauskas and her husband Chris all of West Roxbury and Martin J. Flynn Jr. and his wife Juli-Ann of Braintree. She is the loving grandmother of 10 grandchildren. She is the beloved sister of Robert Maguire of Quincy, Charles Maguire of Everett the late Frances Devlin, Bernadette DePauw, Alice Treanor, Catherine Harvey, Ann Maguire, Donald, William, Paul and Daniel Maguire.

Mary's Funeral will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2008, at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill Street, Charlestown, followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren Street, Charlestown, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours for Mary will be on Wednesday, February 20, 2008, from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will take place at the Veterans Administration National Cemetery, Bourne.
