TEWKSBURY - Barbara A. (Braswell) MacMurdo, age 71, a retired accountant for severalQuincy area companies, died Tuesday evening, Feb. 4, at Saint’s Memorial Medical Center inLowell after a brief illness. She was the wife of Ronald L. MacMurdo, with whom she hadcelebrated a 40th wedding anniversary this past June.
She was born in Washington, D.C., Dec. 11, 1931, the daughter of the late Bruce and Mae(Miller) Braswell. She was raised in North and South Carolina, but had lived in Quincy thegreater part of her life. She moved to Tewksbury one year ago.
She earned her accounting and business degree at Chattahall College.
She was employed by her family’s business, the Charles Transportation in Quincy and Mattapanas an accountant. In her earlier years, she had been employed as an accountant at United Liquorsin Westwood, and Grossman’s Lumber Co., headquarters in Quincy.
In her earlier years she was active in Quincy Youth Hockey. In her later years, she was active asa gardener, and enjoyed membership in the Boston Horticultural Society, and the National RoseSociety.
Besides her husband, she is survived by one son and daughter-in-law; David and Jill (Perrin)MacMurdo of Tewksbury, three grandchildren; Rileigh, Jenna and Travis, and cousins; MarjorieMiller, Karl Miller Jr., and Henry Haywood all of S.C.She was also the mother of the late Bonnie MacMurdo.
At her request funeral services are private.
