Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Charlene Anne (Danna) King, 57, of Warner Street lost her battle with cancer on Sunday, February 17, 2008 in the Addison Gilbert Hospital. She was the wife of Joseph King. They had shared thirty-two years of marriage.
Born in Gloucester on March 7, 1950, she was the daughter of Nina (Favazza) Danna of Gloucester and the late Nicholas Danna. She was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and a graduate of the Gloucester High School class of 1967.
Charlene worked for most of her life in the restaurant industry, and for the last six years she was employed as a manager for the Café Zabaglione in Ipswich.
Along with her husband, she was an avid gardener; raising tomatoes and strawberries. She enjoyed traveling and days off by her pool. Most of all, she loved spending her free time with her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nicole and Robert Hovis, two sons, Jeffery King and Nino Parco, six grandchildren, Christina, Peyton, Nicholas and Ava Hovis, and Alyssa and Jillian Parco. She also leaves a brother-in-law, George, and his wife Katie King, two sisters-in-law, Carol and her husband, William Maciel, and Susan and her husband, Scott Lane and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also predeceased by her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Edna and Jeff King.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday in the Our Lady of Good Voyage Church at 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester from 5 – 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Interment will be held in the Calvary Cemetery.
