Worcester-Francis J Ivaska 84 of Worcester died February 4th in Christopher House, 10 Mary Scano Drive following an illness.
Mr. Ivaska is survived by a brother Joseph Ivaska of Worcester, and a sister Adelle M Degutis of Worcester, with whom he made his home. He also leaves nieces and nephews. A brother, Withold "Vittie" Ivaska of Worcester died before him. Mr. Ivaska was born in Worcester a son of Michael and Mary (Sakalauskas) Ivaska, was a graduate of the former High School of Commerce. He later served as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He served as a Flight Officer and Navigator.
He worked for several years as a Die Sinker at Wyman-Gordon Company in Grafton. Mr. Ivaska moved to Long Beach California in 1957. Returning to Worcester in 1999.
He was a member of Saint Casimir's Parish and had been a member of The Lithuanian Charitable Society.
The funeral will be held Friday February 7th. from The Dirsa-Morin Funeral Home, 298 Grafton Street with a Mass at 10am in Saint Casimir's Church 41 Providence Street. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery.Friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 8:30 to 9:30 am Friday February 7th, prior to the Mass.The family requests that flowers be omitted and that donations be made to Saint Casimirs Church 41 providence Street Worcester Mass. 01604.
