Obituary

Kelley, Sgt. Amanda Susanne, suddenly at age 30 at Fort Irwin, CA. Amanda was born and raised in Wakefield. Cherished daughter of Scott and Susan Kelley of Wakefield. Beloved sister of Scott Kelley and his wife Michelle of Peabody. Devoted aunt and godmother of Shaelyn Kelley and aunt of Hannah Kelley. Precious granddaughter of Adell Green of Medford and Marjorie Kelley of Bennington, VT., Amanda is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. . Amanda was a proud and dedicated soldier in the United States Army, fulfilling a childhood dream of joining the military. Camouflage caps and shirts were one of her early fashion statements. Amanda had an unquenchable zest for laughter and life. Her diamond smile could set a room ablaze, and her hearty love-of-life laugh could rock the house. She and her mother Susan enjoyed a profound, life-long bond and were truly each other’s pride and joy. Amanda never saw a Dunkin Donuts she could drive past. If there were rules, she would work hard to break them. With her booming, rhythmic voice, she was often called upon to chant the marching cadence as she drilled with her fellow soldiers. Among the troops her accent earned her the nickname “Kelley from Boston”. She wore a Red Sox cap. She was our Panda Bear. And now “Death lies on her like an untimely frost upon the fairest flower of all the fields”. At the request of her family, funeral services and interment are private. Donations in her memory may be made to the Army Relief Fund, c\o Antonio Casiano, P.O. Box 105090, Fort Irwin, CA 92319-5090.
