Worcester—Minerva (Kaneb) Maloof, 100, died Monday, February 11, 2008, after a brief illness. Her husband, Thomas A. Maloof, died in 1986. She leaves a son, Philip K. Maloof of Worcester; 3 grandchildren, David J. Darling, Janet M. Blount, and Clifford R. Sherman II; Daniel Moore of Falmouth, MA, whom she loved like a son; and relatives in New York, Ontario, and Quebec. Her daughter Brenda A. (Maloof) Sherman died in 2000. Minerva was born in Worcester, the youngest of six children of Hana and Naza (Selim) Kaneb. She was predeceased by brothers and sisters Peter Kaneb, Mary Kaneb, Beton Kaneb, Elizabeth Samia, and Albert Kaneb; and by 2 half-brothers George Kaneb and Kenneth Kaneb and by a half-sister Janet Peloquin.
She was a member of St. George Orthodox Cathedral, the Worcester Women’s Club, and Andover Parent-Teachers Assoc. She had a great devotion to her children.
Funeral services were held Feb. 15 at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street. Burial was in Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Endowment Fund of Saint George Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna St., Worcester MA 01604. For on-line condolences, please click on link below.
