Obituary

Mary (Scott) Feely-Fay, of Mansfield formerly of Needham, died on Tuesday Feb. 12, 2008 at her home. She was 89.
Born in Waveland, AR she attended Hunter College in the Bronx, NY and while there enlisted in the US Navy WAVES during WW II. Her duties were at BUSANDA (Bureau of Supplies and Accounts) at Purdue University, V-12, then to the Fleet Post Office in Chicago where she stayed until the war ended. At her first assignment in Cleveland she met Robert Feely, they were close friends until he was discharged in 1944. Mary went back to Purdue after her discharge where she was assistant to the Director of Housing Research, at the time the research was considered a means of education. She came to Needham and assisted her husband in the operation of Feely Chevrolet Inc. until his death in 1974. For two years she maintained Feely Chevrolet and then sold the dealership and retired. That same year she married Ralph Fay and they were married until his death in 1982.
Mary was well known and fondly remembered for her charity work. She founded the St. Bartholomew
Guild in the early 1950’s to help build the church and the school. She chaired several fashion shows at the famous “Meadows”
Mary is survived by her son Scott Feely and his wife Susan of Mansfield, her granddaughters Patricia, Caitlin, Meredith and Rachael, her sisters Farris Parker of Mesquite TX and Alliene Wangerin of Keller TX and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was the sister of the late Marie Jackson, Mae Holland, Rex Scott, Vivian Mayes and Ray Scott.
Relatives and friends will gather at the Eaton Funeral Home on Sat Feb. 16 at 9 AM and proceed to a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Bartholomew Church Needham at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree.
Visiting hours will be in the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM.
