Francis L. Fitzpatrick, age 71 years, of Malden, formerly of Charlestown, passed away on February 8, 2008 at Haven Health Care in Chelsea after a lengthy illness. He was born and raised in Charlestown, where he attended schools there. Mr. Fitzpatrick was an inspector for the U.S. Gypsum Company in Charlestown before retiring in 2002. A resident of Malden for over 50 years, he was a member of the Chelsea Irish-American Club. Mr. Fitzpatrick was the beloved husband of 50 years of Joanne (Hickey) Fitzpatrick, and the devoted father of Diane Welchman of Malden. He was also the loving grandfather of 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He was the beloved brother of Marion Hughes of Malden, Robert Fitzpatrick, Dorothy Pratt, and Joseph Fitzpatrick, all of Charlestown, Betty Gorsuch of Malden, Ann Fitzpatrick of N.J., Paul Fitzpatrick of Medford and the late Helen Geno, Mickey, William, John, Gerald and Warren Fitzpatrick. His Funeral will be held from the Frank H. Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill Street, Charlestown on Tuesday at 8AM, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, Charlestown at 9 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting Hours Monday 4-8 PM. Interment at Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden.
