Obituary

WORCESTER__ Norman E. Alarie, 77, of Worcester, died Thursday February 8, in Rose Monahan Hospice Residence, 10 Judith Road.

He leaves his wife of 20 years, Gladys (Nelson) Alarie, four sons, Robert Alarie and his wife Mary of Becket; Richard Alarie of Milford; Ray Alarie and his wife Donna of Bellingham; and Ronald Alarie and his wife Lisa of Sutton; two sisters, Lois Cote and Michelle Kittler both of Cape Cod;12 grandchildren, Heather, Josh, Brock, Kristen, Matthew, Monique, Amanda, Amy, Nichole, Danielle, Meghan and Brian, his former wife, Janet Jeznach of Charlton and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Lorraine Lavasseur. Norman was born in Worcester, a son of Edward and Cecilia (Fortin) Alarie and lived here all his life.

Mr. Alarie retired as a custodian from the Worcester School Department in 1996. Previously, he was a machinist for many years with Telecron Co.,Worcester. He graduated from Worcester Boy’s Trade High School. Norman was a member of St. Joseph Church. He enjoyed traveling, especially cruising and spending time at his home on Cape Cod.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday February 12, from DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton Street, with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, 35 Hamilton Street. Entombment will be at the convenience of the family in St. John’s Cemetery Mausoleum. Calling hours in the funeral home are Monday February 11 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
