Obituary

WORCESTER - Joseph "Red" F. Viera, 80, of 32 Burghardt Street died Saturday, February 1 in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center after an illness.

His wife Theresa M. (Allard) Viera died in 1971. He leaves a son Joseph A. Viera of Worcester; three daughters Sharlene L. O'Brien of Spencer, Jean A. Viera and Jacqueline V. Walsh both of Worcester; 7 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by two sisters Dorothy Wilbur and Virginia Whitaker. He was born in Franklin, MA son of Joseph and Margaret (Smith) Viera.

He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II and was a member of General Patten's 10th Armored Division during the war. Mr. Viera worked for Wyman Gordon Co. in Grafton for 35 years, retiring in 1987.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 4 from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home (www.Royfuneral.com) 12 Hammond Street with a mass at 10 AM in Our Lady of Lourdes, 1290 Grafton Street. Burial will be held in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday, February 3 from 5 to 8 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions maybe made to the VNA Care Network, 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01608-1280.
