WORCESTER-Hilda (Dyson) Ackerman, 94, of 1030 Main Street, died Friday, January 31st in Clark Manor Nursing Home after a long illness. Her husband, George H. Ackerman died in 1966. She leaves, 6 sons including, George H. Ackerman of Dover, NH, Thomas “Buster” D. Ackerman of San Diego, CA, Donald “Jack” and Richard Ackerman both of Worcester, Robert P. Ackerman of Spencer, Allen L. Ackerman of Worcester; 6 daughters including, Margaret “Peg” E. Brunnett of Leicester, Dorothy A. Mandella of Worcester, Hilda M. Brunnett of Rochdale, Joan Ayotte of North Oxford, Andrea Ackerman of Worcester, Marion Cote of Worcester; 33 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren; many nephews and nieces. A brother, Thomas Dyson and 2 sisters, Margaret Kiendenst and Ann Eagan predeceased her.
She was born in Yorkshire, England the daughter of Thomas and Annie M. (Hughes) Dyson and moved to Worcester as a small child. Mrs. Ackerman was a homemaker. She was a member of the 1050 Club at Webster Square Towers. She also was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, its Triple M. Club and the United Methodist Women’s Circle. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo and traveling.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. There are no calling hours. O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue is directing the arrangements. Please omit flowers.
