Viola M. (Saccardo) Novello, a lifelong Charlestown resident died unexpectedly on Friday February 1, 2008 at her daughters home in Revere. She was 92 years old.
Viola was born in Boston on June 16, 1915. She grew up in Charlestown where she attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from Charlestown High School. Viola worked for over 30 years at Boston Statuary Company in Roxbury where she spent hourless days painting only the eyes of many statues. She also worked at Polaroid Corporation as a machine operator for over 20 years and retired from there several years ago. Viola enjoyed volunteering her services at the Everett Chapter of G.B.A.R.C.
Viola is the beloved wife of the late Tino F. Novello. She is the devoted mother of Rocco F. Novello and his wife Linda of Medway, Mary Williams of Charlestown, Tino F. Novello and his wife Catherine of Saugus and Viola Siriani and her husband Louis of Revere. She is the loving grandmother of 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She is the beloved sister of George Saccardo of Peabody, Ernest Saccardo of Wakefield, Eugene Saccardo of Tewksbury, Charles Saccardo of Waltham and the late Amy Moccia.
Viola's Funeral will be held on Thursday February 7, 2008 at 9 a.m. from the Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Catherine's Church, 49 Vine St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours for Viola will be on Wednesday February 6, 2008 from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
