Lt. Colonel Henry S. Jankowiak, US Army, retired, died on Friday February 1st at the Skilled Nursing Facility at North Hill. He was 92 years old. Lt. Colonel Jankowiak had been a resident of North Hill, Needham since 2002. He served in the US Army for over 22 years, retiring in 1962. Prior to moving to Needham he had lived in California. His Army career afforded him the opportunity to live in several places during his service to his country including South Carolina, Guam, Hawaii and California. He attended college at the University of Hawaii and at the University of California at Berkley. A devout Catholic, Henry was an avid golfer and will always be remembered for his devotion to his family. The beloved husband for 56 years of the late Phyllis (Kelso) Jankowiak, he was the loving father of Janet Jankowiak, MD and her husband Michael Normile of Needham. Grandfather of Stanley Normile of Needham. A Memorial Mass will be held in St. Joseph Church, 1360 Highland Ave Needham on Friday February 8th at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment is private.
