Mary Louise (Connell) O'Neil, a 4 year resident of Wakefield while living with her daughter, and a lifelong resident of Charlestown, died on Thursday January 31, 2008 at her home in Wakefield after a year long courageous battle with cancer. She was 71 years old.
Mary Lou was born in Worcester on April 23, 1936. She grew up in Charlestown where she attended St. Mary's Parochial School and Boston Public Schools. She worked for W.P.I. Cable Systems in Chelsea for over 36 years and retired as a supervisor for the company in 2006.
Mary Lou is the beloved wife of the late Robert H. O'Neil. She is the devoted mother of Marie Griffin of Medford, Robert O'Neil of Woburn, Steven O'Neil and his wife Karen of Chelsea, Brian O'Neil and his wife Wendi of Northboro, Francine Hammersley and her husband Jerry of Wakefield and the late Karen O'Donnell and Sean O'Neil. She is the loving grandmother of 20 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She is the beloved sister of the late Margaret Borden.
Mary Lou's Funeral will be held on Tuesday February 5, 2008 at 8:30 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours for Mary Lou will be on Monday February 4, 2008 from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
