Maureen (Griffin) Morrissey, 68 years of Brockton died Wednesday January 30, 2008 at her home surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife for 45 years of Daniel J. Morrissey. Born in Norwood a daughter of Catherine M. (Maloney) Griffin of Norwood and the late John L. Griffin. She was raised and educated in Norwood and was a graduate of Norwood High School Class of 1957. Maureen was a registered nurse having graduated from St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in 1960. She worked at Embassy House Nursing Home for 23 years.
She had been a member of the former Ireland’s Own of Brockton and had bowled with the Trombley Bowling League at Maple Alleys. Maureen enjoyed reading but most especially time spent with her family and grandchildren. Longtime communicant at Christ the King/St. Colman Parish where she had been a Eucharist minister.
In addition to her husband and mother she is survived by her 2 beloved sons, Daniel E. Morrissey and his wife Andrea of Braintree and Michael E. Morrissey and his wife Kimberly of Bedford. She was the devoted grandmother of Haley, Ava and Nicholas, Olivia, Madelyn, Abigail and Sophia. Survived by 6 brothers and sisters, John Griffin of Walpole; Carol Cote; Robert Griffin; Catherine Barncle, Patricia Starr and Christopher Griffin all of Norwood. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Tuesday at 8:30am. Funeral Mass in Christ the King/St. Colman Parish at 9:30am. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
