Obituary

Donald F. "Hoppy" Austin, 73, of Bellingham and a former longtime Franklin resident, died suddenly at his home Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008. He was the husband of Linda J. (Olson) Austin. Born in Franklin, Oct. 8, 1934, a son of the late Harold F. and Agnes (Woodman) Austin, he lived in Franklin most of his life, until moving to Bellingham 15 years ago. Until his retirement, he worked as a carpenter for Walpole Local No. 138 for 40 years. He was a life member of Woonsocket Lodge of Elks No. 850, a member of Cercle Laurier, the Par X Club, the Italian Workingmens Club and the Laborers International Union of North America. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed following the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox. Surviving, in addition to his wife of 53 years, is a son, David F. Hoppy Austin of Foxboro; two sisters, Lenore Betty Williams of Randolph and Carol M. Kinlin of Norfolk; and a grandson, Daniel F. Austin. He was also the brother of the late Lois Wilson and Joseph F. Austin. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Saturday, at 9:15 a.m., from the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St., www.franklinfuneral.com, with a funeral Mass in St. Mary Church, at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Marys Cemetery.
