
GLOUCESTER: Charles Frederick “Fred” Pearce, Jr. of Annisquam, MA passed away peacefully on January 29, 2008 after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carolyn Davis Pearce, and his sons, Charles Frederick Pearce III, and his wife Kate, and Chandler Davis Pearce, and his wife Deborah. A proud grandparent, he is also survived by his grandchildren, Charles F. Pearce IV, Noah M. Pearce and his wife, Sarah, Lindsay F. Pearce, M.D., Whitney Pearce Fitts, CFA and her husband, Gavin, and a much loved great granddaughter Norah Ann Pearce.
Mr. Pearce was pre-deceased by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Pearce and his sisters, Ruth Pearce James and Virginia Pearce.
Mr. Pearce graduated from Hebron Academy and Colby College. He served in the U.S. Army in Italy during World War II. He retired from IBM 32 years ago. Active in his community, Fred served as the President of the Village Hall Association, President of the Mt. Adnah Cemetery Association, an incorporator of the Cape Ann Savings Bank and as Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Annisquam Village Church. An avid sailor, Fred was a long time member of the Annisquam Yacht Club. He was also a member of the Leonard Club. He worked on the first EDIC responsible for the development of the Blackburn Industrial Park.
There will be a memorial service at the Annisquam Village Church on February 2nd, at 11 am followed by a reception at the Annisquam Village Hall. Interment is private. There will be no visiting hours. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Annisquam Village Church, 820 Washington Street, Annisquam, MA 01930.
