Funeral from the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Saturday at 9am. Funeral Mass in St. Colman Church at 10am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting Hours Friday 5-8pm.
Obituary Information
Mr. Murphy died Wednesday morning at the Oak Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Middleboro, after a brief period of failing health. He was born in West Bridgewater, son of the late Peter D. and Catherine G. (O’Brien) Murphy, he had been a resident of Brockton for over 60 years; a resident of Trinity Village for the past 10 years. During WWII he served as a Staff Sergeant in the US Army with the 324th Signal Corps Wing. He had been a long time employee for the city of Brockton in the elementary schools. He enjoyed walking, reading and spending time at his summer home in Buzzards Bay.
He was the husband of the late E. Patricia (Kelly) Murphy. He is survived by his daughter Maureen Gorman of Lakeville, 3 grandchildren Jennifer, Jason and Jillian Gorman, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Francis and Edward Murphy, Mary Bowles and Rita Murphy.
