George F. Azevedo, 53, a lifelong resident of Norton died on Friday January 25, 2008 at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Wendy M. (Giliard) Azevedo to whom he was wed to on October 7, 1972.
Born in Attleboro, MA on February 5, 1954 he was a loving son of Georgina F. (Serrao) Azevedo of Norton and the late Augusto F. Azevedo who passed away in 1984.
He grew up and was educated in Norton. Mr. Azevedo was the proud owner for many years of G.F Azevedo & Sons Trucking in Norton.
A communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton, George also served as a member of the Norton Cemetery Commission.
George loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, trips to the Cape Cod Canal and salt water fishing. He regularly attended car shows, loved the Red Sox, watching Dirty Jobs on the Discovery Channel and was the number fan of the Three Stooger’s. George had a special fondness for animals, especially his “grand dog” Mazie.
Besides his beloved wife and loving mother he is survived by his devoted children; Jason G. Azevedo and his wife Lisa of Norton, Kami L. Azevedo and her fiancé J.P. McMorrow of Norton and Bryan Augusto Azevedo and his fiancé Patrycia of Jamaica Plain, Also survived by his brother James F. Azevedo of Taunton.
His funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Tuesday January 29th at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, South Worcester St. Norton. Burial will follow in the Norton Common Cemetery, Norton.
Visiting hours have been omitted. In lieu of flowers, George’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to St. Mary’s Church Building fund P.O. Box 430 Norton, MA 02766.
