Joan (Garlington) Thuestad, 71, of Mattapoisett died Tuesday January 28, 2003 at home. She was the wife of Harald Thuestad.
Born and raised in New Bedford, the daughter of the late James and Ida (Stuart) Garlington, she lived in Mattapoisett for the past 40 years.
She was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Fairhaven.
She was a graduate of New Bedford High School and Kinyon-Campbell Business School.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Kenneth H. Thuestad of Mattapoisett; 2 daughters, Heather L. Lomeland of Mattapoisett and Heidi I. Reynolds of Alexandria, Virginia; 6 grandchildren, Tara DeSousa, Hans Lomeland, Nicole Thuestad, Jakob Thuestad, Izak Thuestad, and Kirsten Thuestad; and a great-granddaughter, Karina DeSousa.
She was the sister of the late Irving Garlington, Alice Robinson, Gladys Rothwell, and James Garlington.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service in the Trinity Lutheran Church, 16 Temple Place, Fairhaven, Saturday, February 1st at 11 AM. Visiting hours are omitted. Burial in Rural Cemetery, New Bedford will be private.
