Alvan E. Fucci passed away on January 25, 2008. He was 81 years old.
Alvan was born in Malden in 1926. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1944 and served until 1951 during both WWII and the Korean War. After his military service, Alvan returned to Malden. He married Gloria (Fantasia) Fucci, his beloved wife of 53 years and together they raised four children. He worked for Converse Rubber and then as a mailman for the U.S. Postal Service for many years. He was an avid golfer and served as a past Commander for the V.F.W. Post 639 in Malden.
Alvan was the son of the late Charles and Bertha Fucci. He was the loving father of Diane Nuzzo and her husband Frank of Everett, Joani Fucci of Malden, Marie Ellis and her husband Joseph of Malden and Allan Fucci and his wife Katie of Melrose. Alvan was the dear brother of Mildred Gray, Patricia Conway, Theresa Pease, Charles, John and Joseph Fucci and the late William and Anthony Fucci. He was the cherished grandfather of Frankie, Matt and Brian Nuzzo, Chris Stopford, Stephen, Alana and Andrea Ellis, Christopher Whynock, Andrew Fucci and Mackenzie Moreschi. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The Funeral will be held from the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main Street, Malden on Monday, January 28th at 8:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant Street, Malden at 9:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours are Sunday, January 27th from 2-6 p.m. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
