Obituary

Lawrence, Ma. – James K. O’Connell, 81, died Wednesday January 23, 2008 at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen.
Born in Lawrence, he was the son of John and Nellie (Fitzgerald) O’Connell.
James was a graduate of Lawrence High School and attended Wentworth Institute.
Mr. O’Connell was a communicant of Saint Monica’s Church in Methuen.
During the Korean Conflict he served his country in the United States Army and was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal, and the UN Service Medal prior to being honorably discharged.
He was an avid fan of all New England sports, enjoyed visits to Ireland, and spending time at the beach.
A lifelong resident of Lawrence James is survived by sisters and brothers; Eileen P. O’Connell of Lawrence, Anita M. Driscoll of Methuen, his twin brother William W. O’Connell of North Andover, Francis X. and his wife Claire of Methuen, Vincent P. and his wife Caryl also of Methuen, and sister-in-law Louise O’Connell of Lawrence, and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
James was predeceased by siblings Mary E. O’Connell, Daniel V, Dennis J. John T., Maurice J. and Joseph D. O’Connell.
A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Saturday morning at 9 o’clock in Saint Monica’s Church with burial to follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 4-8 P.M. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc. 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Monicas Church and their Saint Vincent de Paul Society 212 Lawrence Street Methuen, Ma. 01844.
