Kenneth H. Thuestad, 48, of Mattapoisett died unexpectedly on Wednesday January 23, 2008. He was the husband of Sharon (Berg) Thuestad.
Born in New Bedford, the son of Harald Thuestad of Mattapoisett and the late Joan (Garlington) Thuestad, he lived in Mattapoisett for most of his life.
He attended Trinity Lutheran Church.
Mr. Thuestad was a fishing captain for many years on various vessels, and had been the former owner of F/V Perseverance. For the past two years, he captained various vessels for Eastern Fisheries. He had also previously worked as a first mate for Moran Towing in New York.
His unconditional strength and dedication that he showed throughout his life were exemplified through his final actions.
Survivors include his wife; his father; four children, Nicole, Jakob, Izak, and Kirsten, all of Mattapoisett; two sisters, Heather Thuestad of Mattapoisett and Heidi Reynolds and her husband Kenneth of Virginia; his father-in-law, Erling Berg and and his wife Nanette of Cape May, NJ; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
His Memorial Service will be held on Monday at 11 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 16 Temple Place, Fairhaven. Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 2-6 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., Route 6, Mattapoisett.
