Obituary

Earl D. Thompson, Jr., 27 of New Bedford, MA expired January 25, 2003 in Acushnet from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was the son of Thelma (Perry) Holt, (Robert Holt, Jr.) of Vineland, NJ, and Earl Dexter Thompson, Sr., (Sylvia Thompson) of Brooklyn, NY, and the fiancé of Kelsie L. Wills of New Bedford,

Born and raised in Brooklyn, he had moved to Macon, Georgia when he was 14 years old and had lived in New Bedford since 1997.

He was a member of the United House of Prayer in New Bedford.

Mr. Thompson was presently employed as an sales representative at Ashley Ford in New Bedford. He enjoyed cooking, and had previously worked as a chef at Friendly's Restaurant in Fairhaven.

He enjoyed music and was an excellent trombonist.

Survivors include his parents, his stepparents; his fiancée; a son, Earl Dexter Thompson, III, of New Bedford; his dear friend and employer, Robert Bancroft of Ashley Ford; 3 brothers, Maurice Thompson of New Bedford, Dumont and Christian Thompson, both of Brooklyn; 5 sisters, Charelle Holt and Charnelle Holt, of Vineland, Andrea Thompson of Houston, TX, Crystal Thompson and Corine Walkira Thompson, both of Brooklyn; his maternal grandmother, Catherine Perry-Edmonds, and her husband Louis Edmonds, of Brooklyn; his paternal grandmother, Alice Thompson of Brooklyn; several aunts and uncles, including Emerson Perry of Jacksonville, FL, Pastor Todd Perry, and his wife Shirley, of Vineland, Pastor Wayne Perry, and his wife Marcella, of Jacksonville, Fla., Willie Perry, Jr., and his wife Patricia, of Irvington, NJ, and Chailendra Williams, and her husband Christopher, of Charlotte, NC; 1 niece, a host of cousins and friends.

His New Bedford Homegoing Service will be held on Thursday, January 30th at 7 PM in the United House of Prayer, 419 Kempton St., New Bedford. Visitation at Church prior to service from 5-7 PM. His New York Homegoing Service will be held on Saturday, February 1st at 11 AM at the United House of Prayer in New York City. Visitation at Church prior to the service from 10-11 AM.

Interment Rose Hill Cemetery, Linden, NJ.
