MALDEN, MA– Sophie A. (Bawolek) Nowak, 85, of Malden, died Monday January 21st at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford. She was the wife of Thaddeus A. Nowak to whom she was married for 62 years.
Born in Lowell on July 1, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Jerome and Agnes (Wiencek) Bawolek.
Mrs. Nowak was educated in Lowell schools. She worked as a custodian at Lowell High School for 12 years until her retirement.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Nowak is survived by a son Andrew R. Nowak and his wife Roslyn of Malden; a daughter Mary Ann Nowak of Lowell; a sister Alice LaRock of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren, John and Joy Nowak of Malden.
Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Thursday from 10 until 11 AM. Her funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 AM. Burial will take place in the spring at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Lowell. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her name to Fernald League for the Retarded, Inc., Legal Fund, PO Box 85, Belmont, MA 02478-0002.
