Obituary

Elizabeth G. Phillips, 85, of Church Rd., Windham, NH died Monday morning January 27, 2003 at the Parkland Medical Center, Derry, NH following a brief illness. Mrs. Phillips was born in Baltimore, Maryland on February 8, 1917 the daughter of the late Richard W. and Maud (Strickland) Gallon. She had resided in Windham for the past 18 months formerly living in East Sandwich, Ma. Mrs. Phillips was the co-founder of the Thornton W. Burgess Society, Sandwich, Ma. She was very instrumental in saving Brady’s Island in Sandwich. She had volunteered in many charity organizations in Melrose and Sandwich, Ma, areas. She was a wildlife enthusiast and especially enjoyed feeding her birds. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing and was a marvelous cook.

She is survived by one son, George A. (wife June) Phillips Jr., Nottingham, NH, one daughter, Mrs. Tracy W. (Nancy P.) Decker, Melrose, Ma, three grandchildren, Elizabeth A. Decker, Abbington, Ma, Michael G. Phillips, Wilmington, Del, Amara K. Phillips, Nottingham, NH, three great grandchildren, Elizabeth R. Phillips, Michael M. Phillips both of Wilmington, Del, Gemma J. Kennett, Nottingham, NH, one brother, John Gallon, Baltimore, Md, also one grandniece and one grandnephew. She was predeceased by her husband, George A. Phillips in 1987.

There are no calling hours. Following cremation, memorial services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to, Thornton W. Burgess Society, Sandwich, Ma. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry, NH is handling arrangements.
