Obituary

WORCESTER-Mary R. Armstrong of 24 Bauer Street died Monday, January 27th in the St. Francis Home. She leaves a niece, and several nephews including, Paul V. Burke of Worcester her caregiver, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins. 2 brothers, John Armstrong and Michael Armstrong and a sister, Anne V. Burke predeceased her.

Ms. Armstrong was born in Worcester the daughter of Michael P. and Mary (McLaughlin) Armstrong and has lived here all her life. She worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the Division of Child Guardianship for 30 years retiring in 1981. Previously, she worked for the City of Worcester in the Water Department and the Massachusetts Department of Public Welfare. She was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church, the Retired State, County and Municipal Employees Association. She did volunteer work at Memorial Hospital and Fairlawn Rehabilitation Hospital.

The funeral will be Thursday, January 30th from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue with a mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday, January 29th from 6:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
