Obituary

Worcester—Mary D. (Derderian) Tateosian, 74, died Thursday, January 17, 2008, in the Rose Monahan Residence after an illness. She leaves a son, David S. Tateosian and his wife Debra of Groveland, MA; two daughters, Jean M. and her husband Michael Hutchison of Wilmington, MA and Joan M. and her husband Michael Arakelian of Worcester; a brother Joseph Derderian of West Boylston; a sister Margaret Boosahda of Worcester; six grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Derderian and a sister, Sophie Shamgochian.

Mary was born in Worcester, daughter of Setrag and Margaret (Balemian) Derderian. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Worcester State College and was a life-long middle school and high school English teacher for the Worcester Public Schools. She was a member of the Armenian Church of Our Saviour where she was a member of the choir, Women’s Guild, and Daughters of Vartan. She was a member of the Worcester State College Alumnae Assn. and volunteered her time at the Worcester Public Library’s Frances Perkins Branch and the gift shops at Tower Hill Botanic Garden and Fairlawn Rehabilitation. She loved her family, reading, art, music, piano, and travel.

The funeral service will be held Monday, Jan. 21, from Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street with an 11:00 a.m. service at the Armenian Church of Our Saviour. There are no calling hours.
