Obituary

Marjorie M. Nixon, 79, of Derry, NH, died Monday, January 14, 2008 in the Concord Hospice in Concord, NH following a long courageous battle with cancer. Mrs. Nixon was born in Lynn, MA on November 7, 1928, a daughter of the late Ernest and Irene (Stanchfield) Sanborn. She was a resident of Derry since 1971, formerly living in Windham, NH. Mrs. Nixon was a longtime employee of N.E. Telephone Co. in Derry as a switchboard operator. She was a talented gardener and artist, and enjoyed sharing her paintings and colorful birdhouses with family and friends. Mrs. Nixon enjoyed a good book, good laughs and especially good friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Martha M. Joyce and her son-in-law Richard, both of Londonderry; two grandchildren, Matthew Joyce, and Kara Joyce; two step daughters, Cynthia Nixon Welch, and Lisa Nixon; two step sons, Frederick T. "Jay" Nixon, and Richard Nixon; and one cousin, Irene Galloway. She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick T. Nixon in 2004.
Following cremation, calling hours were held on Saturday, January 19th from 9 - 11:00am in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry, with a memorial service following at 11:00am in the funeral home. Private burial will be in the Cemetery on the Hill in Windham in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of New England, 24 Ferry Rd., Nashua, NH 03060 or to Concord Regional VNA Hospice House, 240 Pleasant St., Concord, NH 03301.
