Victor Joseph Mandeville, 81, of Rochester died Wednesday January 22, 2003 at Tobey Hospital in Wareham after a long illness.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Arcade F. and Rosanna (Guy) Mandeville, he had lived in Mattapoisett for most of his life before moving to Rochester 26 years ago.
Mr. Mandeville was formerly employed as general manager for Acushnet Saw Mills. He had also worked for Pre-Bilt Construction in Dartmouth.
Mr. Mandeville served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and was a recipient of the American Theater ribbon, the Good Conduct medal, and the World War II Victory medal.
Survivors include a son, John Mandeville of Raleigh, NC; a brother, Edward Mandeville of California; 2 sisters, Irene Thomas and Ora Alves, both of New Bedford; his close friends, John Bellafatto of Rochester and Denyse Manley of Wareham; and 2 grandchildren.
His Funeral Service will be held on Sunday January 26, 2003 at 3 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., Route 6, Mattapoisett. His family will receive visitors on Sunday from 2-3 PM, prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in Falls Community Cemetery, Raleigh, North Carolina.
