Joseph A. Vitka, Jr., a resident of Winchester, for 51 years, passed away at his home in Winchester on January 12. Born in Bridgeport, CT, he was the son of the late Joseph A. and Margaret Vitka. He was raised and educated in Connecticut and enrolled at MIT in Cambridge. His studies were interrupted by his military service in the Army during WWII. He completed his studies upon his return and earned degrees in Electrical Engineering and Business Administration. He subsequently made his home in Winchester, where he and his late wife, Mary E. (Burke), raised their four children. A business consultant, Mr. Vitka was a former member of the Winchester Rotary club, and he and Mary were active volunteers with local community organizations. The devoted father of Joe Vitka of Amesbury, Sarah Yore of Tewksbury, Susan Vitka of Falls Church, VA and Martha Vitka of Cambridge, he was also the dear brother of John of Ohio, Elaine Bundock and Joan Gawitt, both of CT. 5 grandchildren further survive Mr. Vitka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Eulalia’s Church, 50 Ridge St. Winchester on Wed., Jan. 16 at 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester.
