East Bridgewater-Donald F. Fowler, 69, a resident of East Bridgewater since 1966, died suddenly at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston Jan. 9, 2008.
Born and raised in Brockton, a son of the late Francis S. and Phyllis (Boyd), he was a 1956 graduate of Brockton High School. He later graduated from Northeastern University with an ABA.
Donald served with the U.S. Air Force from 1958-1962.
He worked as a computer programmer for Honeywell /Bull for 32 years, retiring in 1993.
He was a member of the U.S.G.A and the East Bridgewater Sports Parents.
He was an avid golfer, nature photographer, fisherman and supporter of youth sports.
He was a coach of East Bridgewater Youth Soccer for many years.
He enjoyed summering in Sandwich and spending time with his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
He was the husband of 44 years to Lynn (Quimby); father of Timothy F. and his wife Linda of East Bridgewater, Heather J. Wechter and her husband Dave of Halifax and Jennifer L. Parks and her husband Brian of Bridgewater; brother of James and his wife Janice of South Easton, Kathleen Wagner and her husband Paul of Decatur, Ga., Michael and his wife Luanne of Kingston and Joseph and his wife Theresa of Brockton; Papa of Quimby, Hayden, Boyd, Avery, Madelyn and Kaelyn. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Monday in Trinity Episcopal Church, Bridgewater, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Central Cemetery, East Bridgewater.
Visiting hours are Sunday in the Prophett Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. (Rte. 18), Bridgewater, from 3-7 p.m.
