Obituary

George E. “Bill” Fisher, Jr. 71 years of Brockton died January 2, 2008. He was born in Brockton, a son of the late George E. and Lillian A. (Smith) Fisher, Sr. and remained a lifelong resident of the city. Following his graduation from Brockton High School in 1954, he worked at Batson Lumber. Since he was a youngster, Bill bowled in various leagues in Brockton and was the 1960 Mass State Ten Pin Bowling Champion. His passion for bowling prompted Bill to open the Bill Fisher Pro Shop in Brockton that specialized in bowling engraving and trophies. He was also a sponsor of a team at Westgate Lanes in Brockton. In addition to bowling, Bill enjoyed watching the Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics.

Bill was the brother of Gary Fisher and his wife Janice Marconi of Stonington, CT and the late David W. Fisher. He is also survived by a sister-in-law Imelda Fisher of N. Easton and 3 nieces Lori Cavanaugh, Tracy Fisher and Jami Kennedy.

A Celebration of Bill’s life will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Monday January 14 from 5-8 pm with prayers at 7:30 pm.
