Charles Donald Turlington, 60, of Atlanta died Friday, January 11, 2008, at his residence. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 18, 2008, in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Rev. Chris Shoemaker will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Mr. Turlington was born on February 17, 1947 in Tifton and was the son of Ovida Fred Turlington and Virginia Elizabeth Jernigan Turlington, both deceased. He was a project manager for Scientific Games International and a member of the First Methodist Church in Atlanta. He graduated from Georgia Tech in 1968 with a B. S. degree in Engineering (Industrial Management); was a former financial analyst with MCI/World Com; was employed with Georgia Power (Southern Company) for 16 years; was a former project manager for Newport New Shipbuilding & Drydocking Company; and was a former computer engineer for the United States Army. He had lived in Atlanta for 20 years and in various locations in Georgia for 40 years.
Mr. Turlington is survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sandra Turlington Orlando and her husband, Louis Ed Orlando, of Jacksonville, Florida, Susan Turlington Stroupe and her husband, Ed Stroupe, of Saint Augustine, Florida; two aunts, Elizabeth White of Mayo, Florida and Pearl Barth of Margate, Florida; and her nieces and nephews, Mr. and Mrs. Jared Orlando, with children Ethan and Erin of Duluth, Edwin Derrick Orlando of Jacksonville, Florida, and Amy and David Ott of Jacksonville, Florida.
