Obituary

CONSTANCE (KOTSEAS) DIVINCENTIS, our charming and beloved daughter, sister, mother and aunt passed to another place in time on Saturday, January 5th. Connie knew the meaning of truth, acceptance, happiness, peace and love. She represented all that is great and wonderful in this world, while dealing with the unfairness and debilitation of a disease that robbed her of mobility and the freedom to move and explore life. Connie had the magic of spirit and faith that granted her a gift few ever receive or understand. She had the spirit of an eagle soaring on high, the love of doves cooing and the faith that winter birds possess knowing that once the cold passes, spring will return. Connie inspired us and taught us the meaning of courage, patience and respect for all.

Connie was a teacher in the Worcester Public Schools before leaving to start her family. She gave life to a mischievous, darling son, Marc DiVincentis, who survives her with his wife, Danielle and their son, Anthony. Her parents, Charles and Helen (Stavros) Kotseas; her sisters, Paula, Andrea, Vickie and their families, all look back in time at the true and best gift life could ever provide, that of knowing Connie.

Connie “picked herself up by the boot straps”, as she would say, and lived a full, active and caring life. She planned and executed project after project to keep her mind blossoming with energy and positive results. Connie wrote a chronicle of her life of how she felt being contained and hampered by a degenerative disease. She wrote a book on living life at wheelchair high height. Connie earned a Master’s Degree in art and music therapy from Anna Maria College. She had volunteered for many years in the art program at Elementary schools in Millbury. Connie planted vegetable and flower gardens every spring to watch the miracle of life unfold.

We who have known and loved you will truly miss your smiles, your laughter and your genuine humility and grace. You, Connie, are a jewel to behold. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Ataxia Foundation, 2600 Fernbrook Lane, Suite 119, Minneapolis, MN 55447.
