Obituary

Daniel J. O’Neill, of Wellesley, a Wellesley Firefighter from 1953-1984, died January 8, 2008. He was the beloved husband of Annette M. (Beaulieu) O’Neill for 58 years.

Mr. O’Neill was born in Boston and was the son of the late Daniel J. and Margaret (Barrett) O’Neill. He has been a longtime Wellesley resident. He was a member of the Wellesley VFW, Past Post Commander American Legion, Wellesley, and a Wellesley Town Meeting Member for 30 years. He was a World War II U.S. Navy Veteran as a Gunner on the USS Frank Knox and the owner of the Daniel J. O’Neill Painting, Contracting and Remodeling Co. for 35 years.

He was the devoted father of Daniel J. O’Neill Jr. and his wife Lisa of Wellesley, Deborah M. Hullinger of Lawrenceville, GA and Karen J. Salvi and her husband Stephen of Natick. He was the grandfather of Kristin, Andrew, Travis, Kimberly, Jonathan, Kevin, Jared and Daniel and the great grandfather of Zachary and Parker. He was the brother of Dorothea Kelly and Delores Brady both of Wellesley.

His funeral will be held from the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St., (Rt.16) Wellesley, on Friday at 10:30 AM with a funeral mass in St. Paul’s Church, Wellesley, at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, at 2:15 PM. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4-8 PM at the funeral home.
