Worcester- Rita (Grzelak) McCabe, 67, of Worcester, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, in UMass-Memorial Medical Center- Memorial Campus, after a brief illness.
Her husband, Edward J. McCabe, died in 1963. She leaves a son, Kevin E. McCabe, with whom she lived; two sister, Mary E. Grzelak and Helen Wrobel, both of Worcester; a granddaughter; nephews and nieces. A brother, Stanley J. Grzelak, and three sisters, Sophie T. Davis, Jennie E. Ernst, and Stella Keevan, predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Bronislaw and Elonora (Ermanski) Grzelak, and lived here all her life. She attended Worcester Public Schools.
She was a housekeeper many years at Worcester City Hospital, retiring in 1991.
She was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Catholic Parish. She was an animal and bird lover.
The funeral will be held Friday, Jan. 24, from Henry-Dirsa Funeral Home, 33 Ward Street, with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
