Emilia P. (Moreira) Fontes-77, of Hudson, died Friday, January 4, 2008 at her residence in Hudson after a short but devastating illness.
She leaves her husband of 55 years, Jose A. Fontes of Hudson.
She was born in Santa Maria the Azores in Portugal, daughter of the late Antonio and Bernardina (Paiva) Moreira. She immigrated to the U.S. in 1968 to provide her children with better opportunities.
She was blessed with the wonderful fortune of knowing many people through her work, first at the former Arrow Automotive Co. in Hudson, later at Data General Co. in Westborough and finally at Data Terminal Co. in Acton where she retired from in 1995.
After retirement, she cherished the time she spent with her husband taking care of her grandchildren and later her great grandchildren.
She was member of Saint Michael’s Parish in Hudson.
She is a tremendous loss to her family and will be remembered forever.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her 3 daughters, Theresa Beaudoin, Inez Fontes and Lucia Medeiros and her husband John, all of Hudson and her son Antonio Fontes and his wife Dina of Hudson. She is also survived by her brother Joao Moreira of Canada; her 3 sisters, Maria Reis, Conceicao Freitas and Beatriz Bairos, all of Canada; 6 grandchildren, Jeff, Patrick and Joshua Beaudoin, Christopher and Derek Medeiros and Nicole Fontes; 2 great grandchildren, Rebecca and Amanda Beaudoin and many nieces and nephews.
She was sister to the late Jose Moreira who died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michaels Church 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will be in Saint Michael’s Cemetery, Hudson. Family and friends may attend calling hours Tuesday, Jan. 8, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
