Obituary

Stanley J. Zuba, a lifelong resident of Lowell, died peacefully in the company of friends after a brief illness on January 4, 2007.

He was born in Lowell 1920 to the late John and Magdelena Zuba of Poland. He graduated from Lowell High School in 1937 and for a time, worked at the Suffolk Knitting Mills in Lowell.

In 1942 he entered the U.S. Army and served in the European theater as a heavy artillery gun crewman. After his discharge in 1946, Mr. Zuba began a long career with the Internal Revenue Service. There he worked as a computer operator until his retirement in 1980. He received the distinguished Albert Gallantin Award for his many years of service to the IRS.

"Stash" as he was affectionately known, enjoyed the company of Frankie the cat as well as all of his friends. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, and enjoyed polka music.
He was a past member of the Polish American Veteran's club of Lowell

He was the brother of the late Frank Zuba who died in 1988 and the late Stephanie Zuba who died in 2001.

He is survived by his companions, the Michaels, as well as several other beloved, close friends and neighbors on his street. He is also survived by cousins, including Patricia Bellamare, Jodi Schuester and Kim Jones of Connecticut and his friend John Kwiklik of Nashua.

Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Ave, DRACUT, on Wednesday from 9 until 10 AM. His funeral service will be held from the funeral home on Wednesday at 10 AM, followed by his Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11 AM at the Catholic Church of the Holy Trinity in Lowell. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his name to the Catholic Church of the Holy Trinity, 340 High Street, Lowell, MA 01852.
