Leonard "Jack" Jackimocz, 74, of New Bedford died Tuesday January 1, 2008 at Hathaway Manor from lung cancer after having been diagnosed five months ago. He was the beloved husband of Dolores "Dolly" (Rufino) Jackimocz; they had been married for 44 years.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Bronislaw and Elizabeth (Bessette) Jackimocz, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
He was a communicant of St. Lawrence Church.
Mr. Jackimocz was formerly employed by the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 29 years until his retirement.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren and attending their sporting events. He loved the Boston Red Sox and traveling to Foxwoods.
Survivors include his wife; three children, Jeffrey Jackimocz of New Bedford, Kevin Jackimocz and his wife Julie of Fall River, and Robin Fuller and her husband Scott of Dartmouth; a brother, Donald Jackimocz and his wife Joan of Acushnet; four grandchildren, Alicia and Jeffrey Jackimocz, and Zachary and Quinn Fuller; and many nieces and nephews, who loved him very much.
His Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 9 AM at St. Lawrence Church. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Friday from 5-8 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
